The Doppler Wind Lidar Wind Ranger product family comprises three different lidar types: two allowing seamless wind profiling of the atmospheric boundary layer (Wind Ranger 200 and Wind Ranger BL) and one for ultra long range wind measurements (Wind Ranger 25k).
The Wind Ranger 200 and Wind Ranger BL are compact, cost-effective and easy-to-use instruments for vertical determination of the 3D wind vector and turbulence quantities. They perform continuous VAD scans of the laser beam at a zenith angle of 10 degrees. The maximum scanner movement is 2 revolutions per second. While the Wind Ranger 200 uses a special FM-CW method for the lower 200 metres measurement height and thus allows measurement heights as low as 7 metres above ground, the Wind Ranger BL uses a pulsed transmission signal and determines the respective measurement heights from the runtime of the received signal.
The Wind Ranger 25k, the next-generation Doppler wind lidar with a robust full-hemisphere scanner, is specifically designed to measure wind fields over distances of more than 25 kilometres.
The Wind Ranger 25k is unique long-range Doppler wind lidar, specifically designed for measuring wind fields and detecting changes in wind conditions over long distances of more than 25 kilometres. The long-range real-time measurements the Wind Ranger 25k is particularly useful for early detection wind ramps – sudden changes in wind speed or direction – that impact the stability of the power grid related to offshore wind farms. The robust full hemisphere scanner allows a precise and continues wind field monitoring in large sectors. The system can be set up in various environments, including offshore platforms, coastal areas, and onshore wind farms. An optional radar profiler can extend wind measurements in rainfall areas.
