The General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) offers scientists and professionals from around the world an annual platform to exchange ideas on the latest scientific findings and technical advancements in the geosciences. This year, the assembly will take place from April 27 to May 2 at the Austria Center Vienna (ACV).
METEK will be present at booth 10/11/14 in the entrance hall, where it will showcase the new, compact Doppler Wind Lidar BEAM6x Windpower for the first time. In addition, two engaging expert talks await attendees on Monday afternoon:
In his presentation, Finn Burgemeister will demonstrate how wind profiles in the atmospheric boundary layer can be captured with high precision by combining a pulsed Doppler Lidar with a continuous-wave Doppler Lidar. Since each system has its strengths at different altitude ranges, their combined use enables a detailed analysis of airflows from near the ground to the upper boundary layer.
Hans-Jürgen Kirtzel will present a comparative study on the measurement of wind and turbulence parameters using ultrasonic anemometers with different geometries. The results show that multi-path technology improves the detection of the vertical wind component and helps to reduce shadowing and flow distortion effects.
